Timothy Hafer

Biography

Timothy Hafer is a composer, singer, songwriter and guitarist based in Los Angeles, California.

Born in Columbus, Ohio, he began his musical training at an early age, focusing on classical viola.  He graduated from The University of Arizona with a BA degree in psychology and music in 2005 and from The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, AZ with a degree in sound engineering in 2007. He played jazz, blues, and rock guitar in college.

He finished recording and mixing his first album, Moses and the Robot in the summer of 2008 in Los Angeles, CA and St. Joseph, MI in his own traveling Lady Garden Studios, on which, he performed his own vocals, guitar, viola, keyboards, and percussion. The album features additional harmony and lead vocals by Rebecca Fortenbacher, and drums by Don Short, Cory Hafer, and Evan Span. The album is distinguished by its sonic clarity and exploration into the sub-genres of pop, rock, psychedelic, classical, and California country.

Since that album, he has played with a variety of bands as a guitarist, vocalist, and keyboardist and as a solo acoustic artist in the San Francisco Bay and Los Angeles areas and currently with the rock 'n' roll band Ivory Spyglass based out of Santa Monica.
